Title: Is US 17 through Jacksonville the same?
Post by: roadman65 on April 03, 2011, 02:11:35 PM
I heard now US 17 bypasses Downtown Jax on a new alignment consisting of a wrong way duplex with US 23, I-95, I-10, and unsigned ALT US 17 and picks itself up on Roosevelt Boulevard.  Does anyone know about this as  Florida does not like to multiplex Interstate and US Routes together except for the Sunshine Skyway.

It's true. Except maybe for FDOT's supposed preferences.

On I-95 there is no indication of US 17 exiting at Union Street in Downtown.  BTW SR 228 is mulitiplexed w US17 onto I-10 and I-95

There was at one time.  I have a picture from 01/12/07 proving it.  I also just looked on StreetView and saw what you mean.  Next time I'm in Jacksonville, I might make a mention to FDOT about this if I drive it and there is no mention where US-17/FL-228 leaves I-95 going NB.
