Title: New member from Toronto
Post by: pbrisebois on April 16, 2011, 11:53:40 AM
Hello all!

I'm fairly new to the roadgeek world, but I've always been interested in transportation and infrastructure. I work in the Aviation industry for a large airline here in Toronto, while my father is an Subway operator here in Toronto. So Planes and Trains are in my blood.

When you work in the aviation industry for a living when I get some vacation time the last think I want to do is fly somewhere, so instead I've come to taking roadtrips. In November I took a couple days and drove the entire length of US-219 from Buffalo/Orchard Park down to the West Virginia/Virginia line in Rich Creek. In about 3 weeks I'm heading down to Sarasota for a week at my friends condo. I plan to drive down, stopping in Salem, Virginia and Savannah, Georgia to enjoy my other passion after transportation...Baseball!

Anyways I'm glad to have found a place online to explore the world of roads.

Cheers, Patrick!

I share your enthusiasm for roads first, flying second, and sports anytime. If your travels take you to New Jersey, let me know and I'll pull a group together for lunch/dinner or even a few roads.

Welcome from Montreal! Have you explored much of Canada so far?

Say hello to Gnate T. Gnat if you wind up catching a Savannah Sand Gnats game.

Also, there's a fellow roadgeek who lives in the Albany, NY area who works for the airline industry.  Not me, though.

Welcome from your neighbor south of the border! I have been to Canada, and it's a very beautiful country indeed.

(BTW, I'm a very faithful and long-suffering Cubs fan who's now living in Seattle...)

Someone who's into roads, aviation and baseball? I think we can get along.  :)

Welcome aboard! Hope you enjoy the broader community here.
And over at the OntRoads Yahoo! group there's a bit more Ontario-centric discussions going on, so definitely worth it to check out there.

Thanks guys for the welcome!

AlpsROADS: Thanks for the welcome. I will eventually make it out to Jersey again, and I will let you know.

Dr. Frankenstein: I have driven most of Southern Ontario and Southwestern Quebec. I have family in and around the Montreal area so I'm quite familiar with it. I've been to every other province save Saskatchewan, however I haven't personally driven them. That's on my "list" though. :)

Dougtone: I will indeed be going to a Sand Gnats game. I'm really looking forward to it!

Henry: Canada is indeed a very beautiful country. Sometimes we (especially us in Toronto) take for granted how beautiful it is. Thankfully I've had the opportunity to see most of the country. It's really given me the desire to explore it even further. How ever I do love the USA aswell. I have plenty of it yet to be explored.

cbeach40: Thanks for the information about OntRaoads, I will check it out. It was sure a tough road trip for the Jays eh? Let's hope once they get back to the Dome they'll be able to turn it around.

Cool! By the way, we will be doing a roadmeet in the Montreal area in late May, if you want to (and can!) go. https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=4457.0
