The newest official highway is map is now out. Picked up one yesterday. Some of the changes I have noted (or never noticed before, as the case may be):
- A bypass of Talladega is shown as u/c between AL-77 and AL-21
- The relocation of US 80 (http://cms.transportation.org/sites/route/docs/USRN%20Report%20to%20SCOH%20May%204%202011.pdf) onto I-85 between East Boulevard (Exit 6) and Exit 16 is shown.
- AL-24 is shown as u/c for a divided highway west of Russellville to Red Bay.
- A proposed freeway (AL 297) appears from I-20/59 near Exit 79 west to US 82 near Coker.
- A divided highway u/c appears from AL 13 at Spruce Pine southeast toward the Franklin/Winston County line.
- US 80 is shown as a divided highway u/c from US 11 at Cuba to Bellamy.
- A bypass of Centerville for US 82 shown u/c from AL 25 to east of town.
- All roads to Opp (within the bypass road) are now simply gray lines, reflecting the decommissioning of US 84 Business and 331 Business.
- New US 98 is shown as u/c divided highway from the north end of CR 31/Newborn Road to the state line.
- AL 181 is shown as u/c multilane highway from US 90 to CR 64.
- The Anniston bypass road shows up as u/c near the split of US 431 and AL 21.

Most likely an extension of SR-275, though it could become rerouted SR-21: http://www.openstreetmap.org/?lat=33.4415&lon=-86.0802&zoom=13&layers=M

There have been stubs here for years, but construction has finally resumed.
Rats! I missed it by about 2 weeks. I looked for a 2011-2012 map when I stopped in Cullman 2 weeks ago on the way back from Huntsville but they did not have any.

Now how long will it be until ALDOT finishes the road to Haleyville so that it will be a useful route?
BTW, here is a PDF version (http://www.dot.state.al.us/moweb/img/AL2010Front.pdf) of the current map.

New sign posts (presumably for U.S. 80) were erected next to Interstate 85 reassurance shields in the Montgomery area recently. Pic from Flaroads (07-31-11).

It would have to be, since the bridge is already signed as AL 297 http://maps.google.com/maps?q=tuscaloosa+al&hl=en&ll=33.233231,-87.496233&spn=0.008615,0.013797&sll=41.237197,-73.43185&sspn=0.001936,0.003449&t=h&z=16&layer=c&cbll=33.23323,-87.496119&panoid=C9IH6kgtAEYSOhr7oGkEsA&cbp=12,105.29,,0,2.24
An observation I noticed in the new map was AL 255 northern extension in Huntsville.
they also have the Tuscaloosa Eastern Bypass dotted in, but that won't be completed for at least another 10 years if we're lucky
