Title: Open Road Tolling Only on LA 1 in Jefferson Parish
Post by: roadman65 on June 09, 2011, 03:57:02 PM
I was just noticing that along LA 24 at its terminus with LA 1 at LaCrose, LA there is a sign mentioning that there are no toll booths to Grand Isle, LA on LA 1.  Wikipedia has a submitted article stating that this is the first facility of its kind to have exclusive open road tolling.  The article also states that if you do not have the local transponding device you have to pre-pay on line or at 5 kiosks located near the toll road.

I guess we all will see this as a precedent to other such toll highways doing away with cash transactions.  I already heard the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey wants to do away with their plazas as it was being talked about earlier last decade.
