Title: New York - I-690
Post by: Michael on June 15, 2011, 10:45:04 PM
Most roadgeeks in CNY know about the old configuration of the I-90/I-690/NY 690 interchange (http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=11&Z=18&X=991&Y=11934&W=3), but I found out something interesting.  While browsing Google Maps, I saw traces that are now trails that looked an awful lot like interchange ramps (http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=43.103881,-76.244484&spn=0.004175,0.010568&t=h&z=17), just east of the I-90 interchange. The Bicycling Map (http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=43.103881,-76.244484&spn=0.004175,0.010568&t=h&z=17&lci=bike) shows it much better (note the loop on the left side).  It turns out I was right, there was an interchange with park roads in Onondaga Lake Park (http://msrmaps.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=11&Z=18&X=996&Y=11932&W=3).  I had no idea.

EDIT: MSR Maps has been discontinued, so click here (http://viewer.nationalmap.gov/viewer/?p=default&b=base1&x=-8487528.958540203&y=5327895.990454949&l=16&sc=&v=TNM_DRG%3A0%3B1%3B2) for a link to The National Map Viewer to view the topo in my fourth link.  To remove the conflicting labels layer, hover over "Base Map" and clear the "Show Labels" checkmark.
