Just to let some know about the proposed John Young Parkway extension that would connect it with Forrest City Road (SR 434) and help ease a lot of congestion at two major intersections is started. Land is being cleared between the Florida Central Railroad and the ball fields on the NW corner of US 441 and FL 423. The defunct Exxon on the NW corner of US 441 and current John Young is being cleared as well as area along the east side of John Young Parkway. Signs for construction are as far south as Schader Road, and stakes have been planted along the right of way for John Young Parkway recently.
It will be interesting to see this take shape in the months ahead. I see from FDOT that a bridge will definetly be built over US 441 and the railroad tracks north of the current intersection of FL 423 and US 441. That probably means that Lee Road will still meet US 441 at grade as there seems to be no clearing or any indication that the nearby ball park is closing to make this happen. Furthermore, it would seem that John Young and US 441 will have limited access between the two as some of the businesses will still be in tact that would make this happen. I have shot some photos of this, but will be showing more over time as I frequently pass through here every day almost.
Pile driving has taken place for the bridge over US 441 and the Florida Central Railroad these past few weeks and bulldozers have made an appearence on the old Exxon Station. The merge area from WB FL 423 to NB US 441 is gone, so you have to yield there now.

Here is a picture of a pile being ready to be driven into the ground next to US 441 near the Lee Road/ John Young Intersection.
Another photo of piles being driven in for this project.

Got a map of the new project? Or will I have to go to FDOT for it?
You'll have to go to FDOT: http://www.cflroads.com/Asset/File/150/JYP_SR_434_Aerial_07_13_11_.pdf
Hey NE 2 it looks like Carder Road will be almost entirely replaced east along the RR Tracks. If you have been there now, you will see the reinforcement rods being put into place for the northermost pier of the SB bridge and honeycomb blocks being laid out on the retaining wall. The old Exxon is being dug up and its unclear whether an artificial hill is being made or its going to be elevated from the existing JYP to OBT. Piles are now being driven there, but it could mean either or.
