Title: Sites for Driving Directions
Post by: vdeane on September 11, 2011, 03:48:49 PM
Is there a place other than google maps that lets you drag both endpoints and the route?  Bing allows dragging of the endpoints but not the route and everyone else allows dragging of the route but not the endpoints.  This is required functionality for me as I use driving directions to estimate how long trips will take (and the trips usually have the same start and end point, requiring me to set the route manually, which requires dragging the route, which requires a route to drag, which requires end points that are at different locations initially and later dragged into place).

This can be a huge issue if Google's directions believe that a route you want to go on doesn't exist (such as the US 2 bridge across Lake Champlain) by not letting you drag the route onto it despite being shown on the map.

If that's your only problem, put in a point on said route as a stop between points A and B.

Use Bing.  Solves the problem for me usually.

How do you drag the exact route routing on bing?  I wasn't able to find that option.

I did it the same way one can do it on Google.
