Title: Do you brake for historical markers?

Are road geeks also history buffs? How many of you enjoy reading roadside historical markers? Stories and photos acceptable.

If I have time, I sure do! (I like how Texas tells you there's one coming up; wish Florida did that, even if it's just a tiny little sign). I always stop and read them when walking around.

It's funny how some of the markers themselves have become historically significant...some of them are 50 years old or more.

Not often, but every once in awhile:

I always find them fun to read.

I don't brake for them but I do try to photograph as many as I can. NY has a mix of newer and older, and I prefer the older.

I try to catch them when possible. I do find it annoying when they're placed along 4 lane (or divided highways) without a place to stop.  :banghead:

Depends what they're doing:  I'd certainly brake for a historical marker if it were crossing the road....
