The new Marlton Circle interchange is going to be finished this month. It is amazing what they did to the intersection. Several circles that are still in use today, should be reconfigured, or eliminated altogether, for better traffic flow. One in particular is the Route 35/Route 66 circle in Neptune.
Since most of what you posted is Fictional Highways, you should post it there. Re: Marlton, why don't you tell us about it or link a news article/
I'm for one happy that got rid of that circle. It was overdue IMO. There was too much traffic to handle from both NJ 70 & NJ 73. I haven't seen it since I left NJ in 2010, doesn't it have an overpass for NJ 73 to fly over NJ 70 now?

Oh, well it certainly is not fictional. A link would help I suppose. Here is a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marlton_Circle
Wow, the 2nd photo in that article looks really different from what it did back in 09:

You bet. An overpass is built over NJ 70 and currently open to traffic, as of March 2011. The project will be fully complete this month. Take a look at the stages: http://www.state.nj.us/transportation/commuter/roads/marltoncircle/stages.shtm
As you can see, stages 1-2 are finished, all we have is stage 3, 95 percent complete though.

Crazy, right? Here are some additional photos part of the project:

In addition, I don't really like the control city on some of the signs. For example, the sign reading Rt 70 East, Medford - Point Pleasant. Medford is fine, but Route 70 does not go directly to Pt. Pleasant. A better location would be Brielle, since it is posted on a milage sign (posted as 58 miles) in Pennsauken, at Route 70's western terminus. Not to mention you could take 70 to Point, but what do you think?
I think people are too bloody anal about control cities being directly on the route.

Everybody on here gets too bloody anal over something on this site.
I meant your entire second and third sentences are fictional. We may have already had a thread on eliminating circles, but you're welcome to add to it and renew discussion if you see something that wasn't discussed previously.

:wow: Oh wow, that is completely different. They made it look really nice and clean though. Definitely can't tell, unless you lived in the area, that there was a circle at one point there. GJ NJDOT!
A contact of mine on Flickr has been documenting the progress since 2009 with some great construction pics in this set:

Same guy also has a site dedicated to the project, with pictures and commentary:

Now if you want to get super technical. The Route 70 bridge over the Manasquan River does go through a sliver of the Borough of Pt Pleasant. ( sort of like DC on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge) And if NJ were like most other states with out every piece of land being incorporated, most of Brick Township would be Pt Pleasant mailing address anyway.
