Hello to you all! I basically found this site by chance. I'm a 40-year-old road geek from Connecticut, a.k.a. the land of cancelled expressways and 37-year Busway debates! So far I've seen 18 states and Washington DC in my lifetime. OK...time to see if there are any historical photos from either Connecticut or Maine here! :hmmm:
Welcome from a CT ex-pat.
You'll probably like these historical photos from Michael Summa:
- http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/ct/i-95/s.html (CT turnpike)
- www.aaroads.com/shields/show.php?image=CT19790861&view=1 (86 is now 84)
Google his name and Connecticut to find others.
Hundreds of sign photos are here: http://www.alpsroads.net/roads/ct/
History of CT roads (my own site): http://www.kurumi.com
Hello Kurumi! Nice to see a familiar name here! I would definitely jones for historical interstate photos, especially if they're between the 60s to the 80s. By the way, there's a New Britain history group at Facebook. A few photos dealt with the old depressed (literally and figuratively) CT Route 72 expressway when it was being built here around 1974. I saved a few photos from that, but may need permission to post them.
Welcome from Philadelphia! I'm not from Connecticut obviously, but I do go through the state multiple times throughout the year and do enjoy the signage in the state!
I also don't have any historic photos from Connecticut or Maine, but I have some more modern photos from those 2 states if you want to check them out:

Philadelphia...haven't been there since September 13th. I was on Amtrak heading south and Peter Pan/Greyhound, over the Betsy Ross Bridge heading north and east to NYC and Connecticut. I recognized nearly all of the Connecticut photos and close to half of the Maine ones. Despite living there twice, I've only definitely been north of Portland three times. I went as far as Augusta with a friend this past May.
Welcome, aboard! Having spent many summers in Connecticut during my mis-begotten youth in the mid-60s-early-70s, i have many fond memories....a little something to welcome you with...
