I know y'all will love these extensive collections of construction photos from NCDOT. This shot is of I-85 being widened between Greensboro and Charlotte. This spot is interesting, because though it's not in a metropolitan area, multiple cross-country transmission lines all converge here, I've noticed it all my life.

WSDOT also has Flickr construction photos online.
MoDOT has a very active Flickr account with frequent additions. Their aerials are also very cool.

VDOT's photos have won awards over the years. As a photographer, I'm a bit jealous. :P

Interesting that the states are putting photos on Flickr rather than their own state.XX.us (or XX.gov) sites ....
(...says the guy who puts construction photos on his agency's Facebook page).
But in my case, it's easier to put photos on FB now than it is our district web site because we're using content management and SharePoint (which blows goats, and I have proof) rather than HTML authoring.

That might be why the state DOTs are using Flickr instead - ease of use, plus photos can be shared much more quickly than with scheduled website updates.
Each INDOT district has its own Flickr photostream, and some of them have decent pictures posted.
