Here's the link to the story in the local newspaper there:

Short version: guy doing time lapse of cars on bridge overlooking PA 283, cops show up and ask for ID, he gets "righteous" and things get out of control.
Mmkay, having been raised in Philly when Frank Rizzo was mayor, rule number one is that you do NOT lip off at the cops. Period. That way lies an ass-kicking.
If they ask you for ID, give it to them. Charm, a smile and a civil conversation beats a nightstick to the face every time. At worse, they'll tell you to move on.
Be safe out there, folks.
Here we go...
meh, I've always given ID, answered honestly what I'm doing, and the cop either tells me I cannot stay (at which point I depart) or he drives off with an amused smile and a shake of his head.
"photographing in a roadgeek context" has never been a problem for me*. it's sometimes after I'm pulled over for a legitimate violation that turns a bit iffy (really? four deputies and a dog because I forgot to turn my lights on before entering the public right of way?)
* with the exception of the Border Patrol, who are fascist shitheads and do not need to be discussed in a conversation about legitimate police.
