Title: Historic map collection
Post by: rickmeck on March 20, 2012, 04:59:32 PM
I was just given hundreds of road maps dating back to the 1920s. Is there a site on which I can sell them and also buy some that interest me? I suspect some of these are worth quite a bit.

Regards,
Rick

You can list your maps for sale and/or your map wants in this thread (https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=2298.0). Otherwise you can always list them on Ebay.

You might also want to check out the Road Map Collectors of America. I've let my paid membership lapse but I know others (Jeff Kitsko and David Backlin) are active members, and there may be others here as well.

Post them on this site.  Can't imagine any place that would actually have more people willing to buy.

If the maps you were given include both 1966 and 1967 Rand McNally Road Atlas & Travel Guides and a 1969 Rand McNally Pocket Road Atlas, name a price. :coffee:

Ive got this old map book, nearly 100 years old. In pretty good condition too. Outside is a little worn so I assume it was used. I found it in my grandmas house and she told me I can take it. But shes didn't exist in 1915 so I dunno how she got it. Most of the pages are just directions but I took pics of two of the most interesting types of pages. Some have ads some have those small maps

Its not for sale I just thought it would be neat to post pics  :)

I think you underestimate what we find interesting. Now, it's not my area, but assuming I cared about the midwest, I would want to see every single page in the book.

Well I didn't mean to make it sound like it was nothing I just meant its not much like you'd see today haha It is very interesting. Most of the cities in here either were blips in here back then and could be major thoroughfares now or are gone. Numbered routes could be changed, street names changed, or routes that don't exist now or whatever haha Very neat.

I wish I had a Los Angeles one or a Western one anyways. That'd be neat. Especially one that old

Google has some of those Automobile Blue books scanned (with full view - they're pre-1923) but not this one.

That's cool, bulkyorled!  And note that the copyright has expired, so you'd be free to post as many scans as you want without having to track down the copyright holder for permission.
