While looking at Google maps, I saw this http://maps.google.com/maps?q=bonita,texas&hl=en&ll=34.025571,-98.909391&spn=0.002974,0.006266&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=46.092115,102.65625&hnear=Bonita,+Texas&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=34.025571,-98.909391&panoid=EjxE7nLlrJasXZ1m3fAtiQ&cbp=12,272.29,,0,0 (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=bonita,texas&hl=en&ll=34.025571,-98.909391&spn=0.002974,0.006266&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=46.092115,102.65625&hnear=Bonita,+Texas&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=34.025571,-98.909391&panoid=EjxE7nLlrJasXZ1m3fAtiQ&cbp=12,272.29,,0,0)
In Electra, Texas.
I think this could indeed be a very old Texas Highway Department Picnic Area. The old concrete highway is appearently a pre-1940 highway,
the current Business US 287 is on the far side of the park
Note: This section of US 287 used to be US 370. It appearently changes to US 287 before 1940. The 1940 map shows US 287/US 70 on what is not Business US 287 in this picture. US 70 is no longer on the corridor.
There's an abandoned rest area inside this Oklahoma Y near Poteau, OK at the former junction of US 59 and 271 (formerly also US 270.) There are still some remnants of the rest area standing. It was probably abandoned in the 1960s.

I've always wondered about this one, when it was last signed and used officially (probably up to the time when I-35E came along). It's on Harry Hines (historic US 77) at Webb Chapel Extension in Dallas. I'm sure the unofficial 'uses' could span your imagination, judging from the reputation the street has had in the last several years  :wow:
