Title: U.S. 24/IL 29 re-routing at Peoria
Post by: rmsandw on May 11, 2012, 11:39:33 PM
From the Peoria Journal-Star

http://www.pjstar.com/news/x1456178816/Route-24-Route-29-will-be-diverted-out-of-Downtown-Peoria (http://www.pjstar.com/news/x1456178816/Route-24-Route-29-will-be-diverted-out-of-Downtown-Peoria)

U.S. 24 will now cross the Illinois River south of downtown with I-474.

IL 29 will cross the river with I-74.

Plus, now a 5-way multi-plex in East Peoria with U.S. 24/150 IL 8/29/116 for a streach.

You're not missing much by bypassing "downtown".

Interesting how some states (Missouri) submit every little curve straightening project to AASHTO (their spring 2012 submission is a bloody four-laning in the same right-of-way) and others (Illinois) don't bother sending in actual reroutings.
