Here is the Chattanooga Highway History map that I have created. I would appreciate it if anybody with knowledge of this area would look it over and see if I missed or should change anything.
I do have a few things that i an unsure of:
1. The southern endpoint of US 127. the signs say that it is at US 27, the current maps show it extending south into downtown.
2. Former SPUR 27. Some maps show it on what is the current US 27 freeway, north of the river. Did it exist? Was it signed as such? How would TN have signed a SPUR? Did US 27 run on surface streets at this time, and did this exist to fill the gap north of I-124?
3.Did SR 2A exist just to be a detour for high loads around the tunnel on US 11/64 (Hidden SR 2)?
Thanks in advance for your comments/help guys.

Signage indicates the terminus is at jct. US 27, but as you noted the official route definition appears to extend downtown, at least according to some DOT documents. However, there is no signage in the field acknowledging this "secret" segment.

Thanks, usends, your Chattanooga page should be helpful.
What's up with the "BUSINESS US 27" sign at Dayton & Signal Mtn Blvd's? I've never seen any mention of it on any map or other sign.
Here's my pic of the first US 127 reassurance sign. Notice that it now has a "BEGIN" sign, which it didn't in the 2003 photo on your site.
You are welcome to use my pic on your site.

What years did BYPASS US 11/41/64 exist? I found it on this 1963 map.:

Notice that it now has a "BEGIN" sign...
Hmm, not sure whether to interpret that sign as "This is the beginning of US 127" or "This is the beginning of an official state scenic route"...
My opinion would be start of US 127. I haven't seen any "BEGIN/END" signs in TN for scenic routes when the underlying route continues.
