Part one of today's jog to the eastern terminus of US 70 in Atlantic, NC, complete with slightly better photography skills on a real camera.
Takumi and I took a trip to Knotts Island, NC this weekend. Here's my side of things.

Great stuff. Let me know if you go on any more road trips, I wouldn't mind tagging along if I'm free.
And now, the conclusion.

So how's your camera situation now, any better?
Well, the reason the camera died was because I bought it, took it out of the box, and immediately started taking pictures and video with it.
Straight out of the box? Minimal charge and no SD or Micro SD card? My 14 MP Samsung camera doesn't seem to hold a charge very well. It charges with either an AC or a USB outlet.
I bought an SD card to go with it. The battery had a little less than one quarter charger straight out of the box, and it was surprisingly good, surviving about a dozen pictures and ten and a half minutes of 1080p video recording before fizzling out.

I bring a power inverter and the camera wall charger on long trips for instances where I run out of battery power. Was almost a necessity on the point and shoots running on Double A batteries.
Normally I have my camera batteries fully charged before leaving on trips. All of the trips I've taken so far are day trips, so it works well enough.

Yes, drifting OT, but my Canon can take over 1,000 photos on a single charge (using AA rechargeables), and I've been able to record 10 minutes+ of video with low battery warning.
Necrobump from hell, but I actually have some new activity.

The Nikon D3000 is one of two cameras I use for road photography. Outside of the auto-focus being wonky on mine (I use manual focus instead), it works great.
Part Two. . .of many, where I discover that it's really difficult to take decent pictures on pavement that's old enough to start collecting Social Security.

It worked great for me. Once I switched to my telephoto lens, I had generally better results.
I don't always double post, but when I do, I elimitante the truck trarffic. Part Three is now up.

You're so far ahead of me getting blog entries done for this trip.

It's odd, because you're actually going through and pre-organizing all your photos and commentary. I'm just going like, "Okay, where did I end the last one?" and go on inserting photos and commentary until I get to the third or fourth unique route or whenever I get tired of waiting for photos to upload.
Speaking of which, Parts Four (http://elricofcrapnibone.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-overload-december-15-2012-part_18.html) and Five (http://elricofcrapnibone.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-overload-december-15-2012-part_19.html) are now available for perusal.
Part six, featuring all of Interstate 664, is now up.

I am thoroughly enjoying yours and Flashing Lights' excellent photos reminding me of what I used to see 20 years ago (minus the Clearview, the semi-horrendous signage, and the final piece of the Western Freeway). Thank you!

Thank you for the compliments.
Part Seven (http://elricofcrapnibone.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-overload-december-15-2012-part_24.html) is now up. Eventually, we will be done with this. Also, Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Heh, yeah. After Christmas my work schedule is much more favorable, so I should be able to finish my entries before I take my next trip.
Continued kudos to you and your photos. I like to test my friends and employees here in Northern Kentucky by pronouncing this word: Kecoughtan!
Finally done.

Great pics.
My college area has changed a lot in 25 years. Go Monarchs!
Happy New Year!

Not quite road related, but trucks do drive on roads.

A most important question.

Because roads are what get the views.

I bet you were pissed when you saw that batch of photos overexposed. Been there done that on a roadtrip!
I tried to adjust the levels in Fireworks on one just to see if could salvage it. It did somewhat, but it then looks like an overexposed slide at that point.

Have to say that this set of signs (the same when I saw it in 2001 (https://www.aaroads.com/mid-atlantic/virginia010/us-013_nb_at_us-060.jpg)) is the best of that batch. The Clearview and butchering of fonts for the shields and the shield numbers in that area makes roadding there look very uninviting...
I actually quite like the NORTH 13 and EAST 60 shields.
I wasn't particularly happy, but at least not all of the pictures turned out poor.
EDIT: And to avoid doing another double post, Part 2 is now up.

I had several pictures that didn't turn out as well, but they were mostly after sunset.
Part Three is up.
