Title: Interstate I-635 at Dallas TX
Post by: Beltway on July 11, 2012, 02:17:33 PM
Why didn't Dallas get a full Interstate beltway in the 1956 federal aid highway act, or at any later time?

The other Texas major cities did, and the 1950 population was 434 thousand in the city and 855 thousand metro.  Definitely in full beltway range.

Today the city itself has almost 2 million.

I-820 wasn't complete in the original plans either.

It -has- been for over 30 years, for a smaller city than Dallas.
