Title: Photos of my trip to New Jersey (COMPLETE)
Post by: WillWeaverRVA on April 15, 2009, 01:23:34 AM
I went up to Dunellen, New Jersey with some friends over the weekend. If you want to know why I'd go there, there's an arcade with a game that we can only find there, and we have friends up there. :P

This is my longest road trip in a while (thanks to my stupid schedule), so obviously I took photos. Unfortunately, we went up at night, so a lot of my photos are black-and-white.

I've uploaded 32 photos so far, and there are plenty more to come.

I've completed my trip photo gallery - check it out beyond the link in the above post. Next time I go up there I will have to go during the day so I can take more photos.

Well...

Actually, I haven't completed it, but the last few photos I have aren't road related; they're more like the other photos I take. I'll post those tomorrow.

Nice carbon copying to go with another pull-through sign for Interstate 95:

The new Clearview sign for Exit 4B is wrong because its Delaware 58 and North Delaware 7. Also why Mall Road is still listed as a destination for Delaware 7 is beyond me, it should be mentioned on an auxiliary sign.

A nice carbon copy with Dover still as the eastbound control point of Delaware 273. Delaware 273 does not go there! http://www.flickr.com/photos/coredesatchikai/3446959100/in/set-72157616698030187/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/coredesatchikai/3446959100/in/set-72157616698030187/)

The service plaza will be closed soon for a complete tear down and rebuilt.

Your only mention that there is a toll ahead until its too late!

The Chysler plant behind this sign was just shut down. Its even more unfortunate, as they expanded the facility just ten years ago and now it sits abandoned.

Is that on U.S. 40 west? Looks like its at the partial-interchange with the now extended MD-43 south.

25 years after they moved U.S. 202 onto Delaware 141 from Interstate 95, they still don't acknowledge it...
How nice, I see they added a New Castle Airport clearview sign since I was last there. So much marketing for an airport with no commercial service...

Yes, that's US 40 West at MD 43.

I'm not surprised at all that the DE Turnpike service plaza is closing and being rebuilt. I noticed the remnants of a gas station when we stopped there going northbound, and the main building definitely looks outdated. I sure hope the new plaza has more 24-hour food options.

Thanks for pointing out those errors; I'll add them to my sign goofs & oddities set when I go through and put titles and descriptions for all the photos. :P

If there's anything you'd like to use, feel free.

Well when the service plaza gets rebuilt, I hope they don't replace those awesome pentagon/trapezoid (or whatever shape they are called) shaped service plaza signs! They are awesome!

Actually, as it turns out, I have more photos. To make them more accessible (since the ones on Flickr will get bumped down as I add more photos, and I don't want to drown Flickr in photos from this trip), I've uploaded them to a Picasa album (http://picasaweb.google.com/coredesat/NewJerseyRoadTrip). There's about 70 more photos that I didn't put on Flickr.

Unfortunately, I don't have time to caption them all.

What game exactly? I know a few of my friends would go there (about 15mins away from here) to play a special DDR machine or something.

DJ MAX Technika (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Max_Technika), a touch-screen music game. The game's distributor was doing a location test, though the machine is now there permanently. There are a lot of games at that arcade that can't be found elsewhere unless you look really hard, and there are four dance game machines (two real DDR machines, one hacked In the Groove machine with hundreds of songs on it, and a Pump It Up Pro machine).

I actually have photos of the arcade (http://picasaweb.google.com/coredesat/8OnTheBreak#), too. :p
