Title: Countdown traffic signals.
Post by: pctech on August 22, 2012, 09:40:42 AM
I remember reading about traffic signals that "counted down" as it phased from green to red being tested. The yellow was a numerical display that "counted" 10-9-8-7 etc, so you would know how long until red was due. Has anyone ever seen one?

I've seen it in another thread on here.  Anyone have a link?

Canada uses those for temporary signals in work zones where there's a one-lane road to let traffic know how long they'll be stopped.

These are specifically prohibited by the MUTCD.
