I saw a CNN map once that had Missouri labeled as "MS". I'm guessing whoever was making the map didn't know the abbreviation for Missouri and took a bad guess.

We tend to be wrong sometimes on the internet when we think we "know" some stuff, but try to relearn it on the somewhat reliable wikipedia or use google search, and have CNN staff learn a little more of geography before repeating the same errors or mistakes (don't we all make them?) when displaying a map of a (or nearby) state.
