Was just looking at ebay and saw some versions of old signs that I have never seen before
Yellow octogon "KEEP RIGHT"
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-KEEP-RIGHT-GLASS-CAT-EYE-REFLECTORS-MARBLES-HIGHWAY-ROAD-SIGN-/300800690126?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item46091e47ce (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ORIGINAL-KEEP-RIGHT-GLASS-CAT-EYE-REFLECTORS-MARBLES-HIGHWAY-ROAD-SIGN-/300800690126?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item46091e47ce)
I've seen signs with the red marble reflector in them, but not turn and intersection signs like this:
Turn Sign:

intersection sign:

Hang around eBay long enough and you'll see all kinds of unusual signs that are quite legit...
the older signs were not as great in numbers as say, current signage, but the variety was much greater as various states and localities were very creative in addressing their local signing needs

Creative, you say?

(1975 Michael Summa)
Received a question about the authenticity of the following sign. I have my doubts, but I'm no Illinois expert:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ILLINOIS-INTERSTATE-280-Road-Sign-1950-60s-Original-MADE-FROM-WOOD-Old-Vintage-/331279582674?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d21cd45d2
Not even sure when I-280 was constructed in Illinois, but it's not on 1959 topo and it's on the 1971. Sources only tell me Iowa opened in 1973.

I do see washer imprints/marks around the mounting holes.

The thickness of the sign looks like a French road sign:

That's because it's wood. Until about 2006, Texas used 3/4 inch thick marine grade plywood for a lot of it's signs.
I have my doubts on 280. The number font looks off. Plus the Interstate legend has rounded ends on the letters. Maybe the used a different font style, but it's suspect to me.
