Title: Someone had fun making this
Post by: jnewkirk77 on November 17, 2012, 12:48:23 PM
I first noticed this sign "goof" (if you will) this summer, but didn't get a pic of it until last night.  This is looking west on KY-81 (W. Parrish Ave.) at US 60 (fmr. Bypass) in Owensboro.  Evidently someone had a longing for the original style of Audubon Parkway shield, but used the blue-on-white color scheme to avoid getting in too much trouble.

I'm glad they did it.  :)

Was there construction at that location recently? Because those US 60 signs look more like contractor-installed examples than what District 2 normally erects. Could be a contractor-installed Audubon Parkway sign as well.

The US 60 signs are older (maybe late '90s?); I think they probably were contractor-installed.  I didn't see who installed the Audubon sign, but I do know it had to be replaced (along with a section of the decorative Greenbelt fencing out of the picture to the right) following an accident on the site not too long ago.  It could be that the "Unbridled Spirit" version was too mangled to reinstall.
