Title: US 371 Truncated?
Post by: US71 on November 20, 2012, 07:47:35 PM
Has US 371 been truncated back to LA 1? I was through there yesterday and saw NO signs for 371 past the US 84/US 371/LA 1 Junction. Along 84/371, there are no signs indicating 371 turns to follow LA 1. I saw no signs for 371 at LA 177, either (where it turns towards I-49).

Has it been truncated or has Louisiana gotten lazy?

I was wondering about that when I was there in June and was out specifically to clinch 371- I didn't see any signs then beyond LA 1 either.

It's just poor signage.

It's just poor signage.

That was my initial thought, but when it's not even posted at LA 177, I really wonder.

Then again, 371 in Arkansas isn't posted north of Lockesburg.

I thought this was resolved - maybe that was in the Yahoo groups - but US 371 officially ends at US 71.

There's no need to sign US 371 past LA 1. If you're going in that direction, it's to get to I-49. Coming from 49, 371 is signed because its used as one route to get to Minden from 49. Sign clutter is given as the reason, honestly.
