Title: Named highways in Louisiana
Post by: mcdonaat on November 26, 2012, 01:31:23 AM
US 167 - Pershing Highway (Jonesboro, Sunset)
US 190 - Acadiana Trail
US 71 - Jefferson Highway (Montgomery, Pineville, Cheneyville, Bunkie)
LA 182, LA 411 - Old Spanish Trail (entire route along old State Route 2)
US 80 - Dixie Overland Highway
US 167 between Winnfield and Tioga - Claiborne Highway

The above roads are named roads, whether historical or current. The cities are where the road actually uses the old name, at least where I know of. Any others that are known?

LA 146 between Homer & Vienna:  White Lightning road...no signs say it, but that's what the locals know it as.

LA 146 between Ruston & Chatham:  Chatham Highway.  Ruston had signs w/that name until they changed it to MLK Dr.

LA 147 between Arcadia & Jonesboro:  Jonesboro Hwy.  Signs in Arcadia.

LA 33:  Farmerville Highway:  signs in Ruston.

US 79: Homer/Minden Hwy...both towns have signs naming it the other's highway.

Parts of old US 80 between between Minden & Shreveport are named Old Shreveport Hwy.

I'm not so sure about Pershing Hwy in Sunset...doesn't that carry LA 178 from Napoleon Avenue (former US 167, now LA 182 since US 167 now carries I-49)??

Maybe I should have said multiparish named highways!

Add to that list Scenic Hwy (US 61 from Miss to BR)
