N.Y. Times: Obama Pushes Plan to Build Roads and Bridges (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/30/us/politics/obama-promotes-ambitious-plan-to-overhaul-nations-infrastructure.html)
QuotePresident Obama came to the congested ocean port here on Friday to promote his plans to rebuild the nation's "raggedy" roads, bridges, schools and other infrastructure with a marriage of public and private investment.
QuoteAt the end of a week absorbed by social issues like gun control and gay rights, the president returned to the economic challenges he has called his top priorities with a set of proposals to generate money for construction projects.
Quote"What are we waiting for?" Mr. Obama asked, surrounded by massive cranes and cargo containers. "There's work to be done. There are workers who are ready to do it. Let's prove to the world that there's no better place to do business than right here in the United States of America, and let's get started rebuilding America."
Rebuild. Which is of course more important than new pork.
Yes. After yet another northeast winter, patching and paving will not cut it. There are dozens of roads that need to be REBUILT from end to end.
POTUS was able to help with the tappan zee replacement funding...need to turn his sites to the rest of 287 in westchester...namely between exit 8 and 9. This section is just past the previous rebuild from exit 8 to the tappan zee. It is in dangerous shape IMO.
