Title: College course: "Route 44 and Other Roadscapes in Litchfield County"
Post by: kurumi on May 30, 2013, 01:53:33 AM
Civil engineering courses with an emphasis on highways are pretty common. But this course offered at UConn Torrington branch caught my eye:

"*AMST 1700: Honors Core: American Landscapes:
Route 44 and Other Roadscapes in Litchfield County
Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00 — 3:15 pm

This course investigates the landscape of roads, toward reaching a greater understanding of American culture and society. From early Native American trails, an early network of toll roads and turnpikes, state highway numbering, and modern roads, we will investigate, in an interdisciplinary fashion, how Americans have created their own cultural landscape. In March and April, we will travel the roads and take a modern inventory. This course fulfills a Content Area C (History) General Education Requirement."

Sounds like fun, even though the course description reads a little disturbingly like something a v**tologist would say :-/
