Title: New light poles on I-95 and RT 349 Connecticut
Post by: JimmyI395 on June 17, 2013, 01:15:29 PM
I notice that they are putting new light poles up on I-95 and RT 349 in the Groton area. These poles are a lot higher than the old ones.

This is similar to the light pole project that is just about completed for the I-91/I-691/CT 15/CT 66 interchange complex in Meriden.

I haven't seen that project yet.

For some reason, I was expecting high-mast lighting at the interchanges, but I can see that I was most likely wrong.

I dont think these new lights will be LED? I notice in Maine on I-95 up around Portland they are switching over to LED Lighting.

I like the way the standard truss bracket has barely changed over the years and even the lantern still follows the basic cobrahead design. Over here one can normally tell what decade the lighting is from by its design.

The lights being replaced date back to the 60s or 70s.  I've seen pics with lights as those from the late 60s.
