KNX Radio: Father Of Girl, 13, Killed On PCH Raising Money For Doc On Roadway's Dangers (http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/07/25/father-of-girl-13-killed-on-pch-raising-money-for-doc-on-roadways-dangers/)
QuoteThe father of a 13-year-old girl killed while walking from a friend's house on the shoulder of the PCH is campaigning to raise funds for a documentary about how to make the road safer.
QuoteEllen and Michel Shane lost their daughter, Emily, the evening of April 3, 2010.
QuoteShe was walking to a meeting point in Malibu where her father had arranged to pick her up when a driver going 70 miles-per-hour crashed into her near Heathercliff Road in Malibu.
QuoteThree years later, Michel Shane has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund a film about the dangers that face pedestrians and others on the PCH.
Horribly ambiguous title makes it sound like the father was killed while raising money.
PS: dog bites man

Yeah, I really thought that's what it was. Girl killed, dad raises money, dad's killed in ironic twist.
the roadway is fine. people just need to learn not to drive like assholes.
hint: the "70mph" part was not innately the problem.
Four Pepperdine University students were killed walking alongside PCH in an area know as dead man's curve by a speeding BMW driver. The driver was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter: https://www.insideedition.com/4-sorority-sisters-killed-by-speeding-bmw-along-deadmans-curve-in-malibu-84197
Very sad. It wouldn't be cheap and would come with a lot of push back but they really should remove one side of parking and build a protected pedestrian/bike facility along PCH in Malibu from sunset to at least Zuma Beach and find ways to construct free to use parking garages. Devise some sort of a system where you can rent bikes at these new parking garages.

70MPH is quite tame for many drivers here.
