Wiley Rd/Church St on the south side of Fairfield appears to be an old temporary connection between I-45 and US 75 that was due to I-45 being incomplete.
However, data from old maps is not consistant with the angle at which this road runs.
The angle suggests that I-45 was complete south of it, but not north of it.
The maps from 1971 differ.
The one from Mobil shows a gap from Streetman to Buffalo.
The Texaco one shows the Buffalo-Faifield section as "under construction". This means that the section south of Fairfield was incomplete. The section north of Fairfield would have needed to be incomplete for this temporary connection to make sense.
The 1972 maps show I-45 being complete.
There is another former temporary connection at Streetman. It is now Spur 114.

I well remember the Streetman cutoff. When we were traveling from OK to Houston in the late 60's, southbound 45 exited there onto US75. There were VERY large billboards installed (by TxDOT?) that referenced the number of serious accidents and fatalities between Streeteman and Centerville, where you rejoined I45. As a preteen boy, I thought they were cool but my Dad just gripped the wheel even tighter.
