Heading East to NYC...

Well I'm off on another cross-half-country road trip.  This time I'm moseying on over to NYC.  Doing a 3-day lollygag (was 2-day) with stops in Kalamazoo, Cleveland area (no I'm not cutting thru Canada), and Scotland PA before basing out of Edison - near the meet locations.  I should be able to cover plenty of Interstate in Michigan with hopes of getting I-94 clinched (Fargo, ND westward would remain after...) while lapping Lansing, Toledo and Cleveland/Akron over the first two days.  Day 3 will be mainly PA time, taking I-79 from I-80 to the Turnpike and using US-30 to get to Scotland (through Breezewood) - I'm intending on trying to reach the abandoned turnpike stretch east of there.  Day 4 will be a drive along the Pennsylvania death trap that is I-78 and into NJ to stop at the hotel, then some driving around possibly.

Roading during my stay?  Still up in the air.  More to come

Keep an ear open in Cleveland.  They are getting ready to do some implosions on parts of the old Innerbelt bridge in the coming weeks.  There will be quite a few good vantage points in the Tremont & Flats area if you happen to be in the area when it happens.  Updates via the http://www.dot.state.oh.us/projects/ClevelandUrbanCoreProjects/Innerbelt/InnerbeltBridge/Pages/default.aspx website.

Quick update...

I was able to hodgepodge a couple of planned drives and improvise.  Drove straight into Manhattan via I-78 (yes that includes the at-grades and the Holland Tunnel) and picked up the Lincoln Tunnel. All of the free bridges of Manhattan have been clinched now (59th st in afternoon, Williamsburg and Manhattan at night.  Also "crossed" Times Square, drove up Palisades Parkway (including the Bear Mtn Bridge) and got half the GS Parkway.  Not to mention the Pulaski Skyway. Thank God for Sundays.

Back to the drawing board.
