What about parts of Maryland I understand that some areas are residential communities of both Baltimore and Washington D.C. due to their halfway location. How much growth or dramatic changes are they getting given that they are halfway from the propers of these places.

More of the commute is south toward D.C. and Northern Virginia.  Most of Maryland has been pretty  clueless when  it comes to attracting and nurturing private-sector employment.

National Harbor is an obvious one.  A massive urban complex where there was nothing but woods before, and right across the river from Alexandria.
