There was a thread on this recently:

NOTE: I just realized that thread was not created recently, but it was bumped recently.

Perhaps a thread merge is in order.

Ha...love this site, gave me a ton of fun and daunting roads to try out here in California that I had never heard of.  Blackrock Road in particular was Tyne biggest beast of all on a massive cliff-face.

The Dalton Highway, mentioned in the other thread, is nowhere near Alaska's most dangerous highway. My candidate would be the part of the Taylor Highway (AK 5) between Chicken and the turnoff to the Canadian border. It's narrow, and parts have soft shoulders that can give way under a heavy vehicle unwisely trying to pass. Last time I traveled that highway, I came upon an accident where an RV rented by German tourists slid down an embankment. Fortunately, no serious injuries.
