I saw the new setup for the first time yesterday–albeit from a Marin Airporter. The inner lane does look very narrow, and while I know the barrier is necessary from a safety standpoint, it's even more of an aesthetic blight than I expected. From the motorist's vantage point, it makes the GGB look a little more like a bridge into some armpit city in the rust belt–like the Ben Franklin.

Quote from: myosh_tino on January 13, 2015, 05:58:20 PMThey lowered the speed limit on the Marin approach to the bridge from 55 MPH to 45 MPH.  The speed limit on the bridge itself has always been 45 MPH.

45 will be widely ignored during low traffic periods and impossible to reach in high traffic periods.

That is probably one reason why they lowered the speed limit on the bridge...

Oh, I must have misheard the report on the KTVU newscast (I admittedly wasn't paying attention until partway through their story).
