The Ghostbuster

Does anyone think Interstate 785 will be signed on US 29 north of Interstate 840 to NC 150 when construction is completed? Or might we have to wait until the 840-to-Business 29 segment is completely upgraded for 785 signs to go up?

The speed limit on the Beltway has been increased to 70 mph throughout. It was previously a mix of 65 mph and 70 mph.

Yet some reason I-40, I-73, and US-421 to the south all remain at 60-65 mph for dozens of miles outside the region despite being much higher quality and more rural freeways.

Probably because someone requested that speed limit to be increased. If no one says anything they won't know a problem exists.  :bigass: (wait haven't I said this before in the NC thread  :bigass:  :pan: :spin: )

That or there are political or safety concerns keeping the speed limit down.

Give this a read:

And if anyone wants to request something:

EDIT:
https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/safety/Documents/Chapter_03_Speed_Limits.pdf

There also appears to be a set of preference speed limits that are used:
https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/safety/Teppl/TEPPL%20All%20Documents%20Library/Kevin%20Lacy%20Speed%20Limit%20Presentation.pdf
- 70 freeway
- 55 multilane rural
- 45 2-lane rural
- 35 suburban
- 25 neighborhood/downtown
I can drive 55 ONLY when it makes sense.
