Interesting...

I've never actually come across a legit pre-1976 Nevada state highway shield in the wild.

Most photos of old shields I've seen have been cutouts with the state name above the number, or been more like the current design (with black outside the state shape) without the "Nevada" cutout. This one's design seems to be a stage in between those. It looks like it's a relatively recent fabrication given its good condition. If legit, it couldn't be any newer than 1978, given the renumbering timeline.

I wonder if NDOT has some documentation of old shield designs somewhere, cause I'm really curious now about this now.
