27 hours 25 minutes. NYC-LA. In 2013 Ed Bolian and Dave Black set the prior record of 28:50 and that was going to be the record for a while, in a video Ed described it as a slot machine, it has to line up for a jackpot to even get 28:50.

From what I could tell from the YouTube videos about the run, the team took the "Northern"  route, or basically I-80 from NYC west

80->76(Western)->70->15->No idea what the Southern Cali/LA area route was. Redondo Beach is mentioned as the Endpoint

Deduced from the team mentioning "Northern"  route, Ohio, Illinois, Nebraska, and Colorado in a YouTube video

The traditional start and end points are the Red Ball Garage in New York and the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach.
"You know, you never have a guaranteed spot until you have a spot guaranteed."
—Olaf Kolzig, as quoted in the Washington Times on March 28, 2003,
commenting on the Capitals clinching a playoff spot.

"That sounded stupid, didn't it?"
—Kolzig, to the same reporter a few seconds later.

Yes, and those are the Start/End points this team used, after reading more stories about the recent accomplishment

After deciphering the addresses for the two locations (142 East 31st Street for the Red Ball Garage and 260 Portofino Way for the Portofino Inn), this is what I came up for the route:

https://www.mapquest.com/directions/list/1/us/new-york/new-york/10016-6813/142-e-31st-st-40.743922,-73.980374/to/us/california/redondo-beach/90277-2033/260-portofino-way-33.845506,-118.397535

Normally, it would take 42 hours and 15 minutes to complete the trip, which clocks in at 2,815 miles.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!
