FINAL
90 vs. 80

I'm going to pick New York to San Francisco over Boston to Seattle, although I lived a few miles north of I-90 for over 27 years.  East of the concurrency, the edge might go to I-90, but it's worth noting that the "Keystone Shortway" is one of the few segments of the Interstate System was built even though it didn't replace or parallel an existing well-traveled route.  And west of Chicago, there's really not much on I-90 except Madison and Spokane, while I-80 follows the Lincoln Highway and passes through or near six state capitals.

QuoteCONSOLATION GAME
95 vs. 75

Whether it's the best or not can be debated, but I-95 is the most important route in the most densely populated area of the country.  It connects the nation's capital and its largest city.

Main Line Interstates clinched:  2, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 37, 39, 43, 44, 45, 55, 57, 59, 65, 68, 71, 72, 74 (IA-IL-IN-OH), 76 (CO-NE), 76 (OH-PA-NJ), 78, 80, 82, 86 (ID), 88 (IL), 94, 96

So this is just the two longest interstates in the final and the two longest north-south interstates as a consolation prize.

Why even bother with going through the whole bracket?

Thanks for the input, Tom Brady

There should be an NIT tournament where x0/5 routes aren't allowed that would be fun!

FINAL
90 vs. 80
Since both of my favorites have been eliminated, I'm choosing here the ones I've clinched more of, which in this case is 62% for I-90 as opposed to 8% for I-80.

THIRD-PLACE
95 vs. 75
I have about 33% of I-95 clinched, but 55% of I-75.

Comment edited to correct vote for I-90.
I-290   I-294   I-55   (I-74)   (I-72)   I-40   I-30   US-59   US-190   TX-30   TX-6

So wouldn't that mean you were voting for I-90?

Yes, yes it would.

Henry, I apologize for my error here, but please make sure my vote is for I-90. I will edit my main comment to reflect that.

Just so that we can watch I-81 and I-94 face off in the final!

Henry

The end has finally come, and first of all, thank you for your votes! Now let's reveal the winners...

FINAL
90 vs. 80
This is a close game, but with an 11-10 final score, I-80 beats I-90 for the Best Overall 2di title.

CONSOLATION GAME
95 vs. 75
Deja vu here, with the exact same score, but we can say that I-75 is the best among north-south 2di's, and thus deserving of third place, which is not a bad thing.

And that does it for this challenge! If you have any ideas of a future road-related tournament, we'd love to hear them. I had lots of fun making up this challenge, and I'm sure the rest of you did playing it.
Go Cubs Go! Go Cubs Go! Hey Chicago, what do you say? The Cubs are gonna win today!

80, 90 and 75 finish 1-2-3......Holy Toledo!

Maybe a game for 3di? Pick out some of the most used or longest cumulative 3di numbers. Each number will represent all variants of it. I have in my mind thinking 270, 275, 294, 465 for Midwest, 287, 295, 495, 695 for East, 280, 405, 710, 880 for West, 285, 410, 595, 610 for South as some possible groupings. Of course fill it up to 16 in each.

What about a worst interstate bracket challenge? I know it could be predictable, but it would be interesting to see which interstate is actually hated the most.

I-80 won as I predicted, after all it is THE major road freight corridor across the country. I-95 deserved a medal.

Please note that I may mention "invalid" FM channels, i.e. ending in an even number or down to 87.5. These are valid in Europe.
