Diverging Diamond Mulitplication

IDOT, ISTHA, and the City of Naperville are planning to replace the IL-59/I-88 interchange (currently a diamond) with a diverging diamond.

The design phase of the project is expected to be approved this summer. Phase II, contract plan preparation and land acquisition, is about 18 to 24 months away. Construction of the road may not be completed until 2016.

It is a pretty nasty stretch of IL-59, from Fox Valley SC north to I-88.  Really unbearbale during rush hour.

INDOT is also planning a diverging diamond interchange for I-69 and Dupont Road in Fort Wayne. It would be the first one in Indiana.
