It's not allowed to be shown since it's a Future route.
Huh, didn't know that.
It's all fun & games until someone summons Cthulhu and brings about the end of the world.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

Some of the I-73 and I-74 signs farther east in North Carolina have the word 'FUTURE" where the word "INTERSTATE" goes, instead of a blank spot and a "FUTURE" auxiliary plate as is the case with this I-26 sign.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Here's an example from back on January 2, 2010.  (And I guess it's also a tiny bit of salad to make it almost appropriate for this thread anyway.)

Which is stupid and wasteful. If it's labeled as future, then why does it matter?

Because thirty years ago, the road might have ended in a pile of aluminum cans in one direction, and onto a narrow crumbling farm road at the other.

The Exit 5B guide has information overload as well as what should be a pull through sign.

Apparantly, they are in no hurry to replace the yellow overhead's information, since there's not enough time for drivers to read that sign as well...

I only see four signs on that gantry.  Not a sine salad.

^  Love the stairstepping on that first sign.  The vertical posts don't look tilted (as they would had they been hit) so it looks like the whole thing was originally installed that way.

Too many guides. Plus there are two guides for US 158 East and NC 12 North.

I do like the panel-per-lane approach, but I agree it's just too much information all at once.

Same. I'm also confused why different lanes are signed for different destinations for the same highway. I'm not familiar with the area, but it doesn't seem like you would necessarily need that level of granularity in destination/lane control right at this junction point.

I don't know if it's been attempted already, but these signs would be great for the Redesign This! thread.
