Quote from: Beltway on December 21, 2025, 04:28:11 PMIt is marijuana and the people who like to smoke reefer gave it a different name.
No, scientists gave it that name.
Scientists used to think that the Earth was flat, and that the Earth was the center of the solar system.

Science? No -- tommyrot
There is practically no written record of natural philosophers thinking the earth was flat. It has been common knowledge that the earth is round for 2,500 years.

Quote from: Beltway on December 21, 2025, 10:37:50 PMI don't take dope.
Why do you think they call it dope?
Weed isn't "dope". Dope usually refers to either opiates or amphetamines. "Dope" hasn't been used to refer to weed in 40 years. It's a boomerism. You are a boomer, aren't you?
Many people who don't like narchotics use phrases like "taking dope" to refer to any such usage of mind-bending mind-blowing drugs.

Not all of us think Air Supply and Christopher Cross is "heavy as shit" like you apparently do.
Air Supply and Christopher Cross? They go back to the 1970s. You are a boomer, aren't you?

I was referring (not reefering) to today's Top 40 that teenagers listen to.

I prefer the term "lunatic asylum", which is as out of date as Kozel's terminology for weed.
Words like "lunatic" and "asylum" and "crazy" and "psychotic" and even "psychiatric" are considered by many in the professional counseling field to be pejoratives nowadays.

They use gentler and less provocative terms.

Weed smoke doesn't linger like tobacco smoke does. After a couple of hours, you can't even smell it. Tobacco smoke lasts for days.
Nevertheless, I am not going to set something on fire and then inhale the smoke.

No such thing as "mentally ill" -- the mind doesn't get "sick."

Why didn't you come till the three different doctors who diagnosed me of being schizoaffective that? That's a pretty shitty thing to say. You know, sometimes you should think before you post because some people that are dealing with some seriously crippling mental illnesses, which are very real. I'm gonna be pushed away from here because they don't wanna see that stupid ass shit said by somebody who has no fucking clue what they're talking about.

You were so close to getting the point here, then you went and did a complete 180. Do you think "illness" just refers to a common cold or something?

I'll add to this: if mental illness wasn't a thing, I wouldn't have seen not one, but TWO cases of people who had to be kicked out of the bus for being disruptive today. And this doesn't even take into account my own problems!

Quote from: Rothman on December 18, 2025, 08:45:41 PMI just hate the smell of marijuana.

I grew up around compulsive smokers, so the pungent smell of weed is way better than something that can actually make me sick, and I've had my fair share of second hand tobacco smoke. Not that I appreciate either, though.

Weed isn't "mind-blowing". It just relaxes you. It's far more mild than you think. But you've never tried it, so you don't know what you're talking about anyway.

Love/Hate isn't Top 40 and never has been, and teenagers don't listen to Love/Hate.

You are so very wrong. If you want to see mental illness, look in a mirror. Denial and Egypt or something.
