Until a distance sign to Boston is posted on I-90 in the Seattle area, Boston will have to make do with this sign on the west end of US 20 in Newport OR:

...which very closely matches the one just before Kenmore Square, same mileage, identical style. Looks like the two states or cities were in touch with each other.

Interesting that they don't show distances to Orillia, North Bay, or Temiskaming Shores immediately after the exit on the 400. I wonder if a similar sign with further distances ever existed on Yonge Street.

Quote from: kphoger on October 03, 2025, 01:28:54 PMBy the way, Mexico City gets used as a control city from pretty far away.  For example, I'm familiar with this sign in the northern suburbs of Monterrey—which, depending on how you measure, is about 900–950 km from the Mexico City limit.

No distance listed on the sign, but Mexico City is about 1300 km from the border at Ciudad Acuña.

ON 11 is prominently signed in and out of Cochrane, but I saw no TCH trailblazers in the wild when I looked in GSV. Only showed on the map.

Ontario is really bad about signing the Trans-Canada. It's really only signed on reassurance markers when the various branches split off, or when the highway changes designations. So you'll find reassurance markers at the splits in Kenogani Lake, North Bay, and Nipigon, but not at Cochrane.
