(Note: I previously posted about this project in the Canyon thread, but this section is separate from the Canyon and needs its own thread.)

TxDOT published the final environmental assessment and FONSI for the section from east of I-45 to Ferguson Road. This is the most difficult section to expand. The design is 5-2-5 with some limited frontage roads. The existing elevated freeway is replaced with a trenched freeway.

Links to the documents, including the assessment with schematics, are available on this page.

The schematics in the assessment are consistent with my recollection. The design looks good with no compromises, which was difficult to achieve with the resistance to right-of-way acquisition. (There is some limited acquisition.)

However, it's premature to get excited. The project has no funding and is not listed in the TxDOT UTP, which has projects planned in the next 10 years. There is serious competition for funding, particularly US 380 in the North Texas region.

Honestly the I-30 DFW projects should probably be its own huge thread.
I am now a PennDOT employee.  My opinions/views do not necessarily reflect the opinions/views of PennDOT.

Right of way acquisition has started. In this month's eminent domain document there are 18 parcels totaling 7.37 acres.

The area for these parcels is from I-45 to the curve at Second Avenue.

A bit off-topic since that gap of I-30 is at the east of I-45 and PGBT/TX-190, but here a video showing and posted three months ago about the construction works over Lake Hubbard.
