CA 1 Big Sur and Monterey Peninsula

Last month I paid a visit to CA 1 from CA 46 north through Big Sur and the Monterey Peninsula to CA 156.  Back in 2017 and 2018 I had extensively explored the Big Sur Region when all the notable landslides were being repair.  Since the winter has been very mild this year a pleasant 70 degree day seemed to be the perfect occasion to go out to the coast.  I've been wanting to do an article on the history CA 1 in the Monterey Peninsula for years.  That being the case I took the occasion to dig back through all the old Gribblenation articles, Division of Highways Maps, and CHWP guides to more or less combine them into one.  This isn't a short read nor was it a short project but personally I think CA 1 merited the effort:
