Falling apart highways

SEATTLE -- A piece of deteriorating I-5 pavement shot through the air and hit a car this weekend, and the state's transportation chief says it might not be the last time we see such a freak accident.

Henry Jessop and his family were headed down I-5 near Northgate on Saturday when a brick-sized concrete panel came off the road, crashed through car's windshield and hit Jessop.

Not as nasty as that blowout on WI 29 near Eau Claire, WI a few weeks ago, but WOW! anyways!

Found myself preoccupied with the traffic behind the news guy on that bridge over the freeway.

That right lane (that isn't exiting) is packed to the gills, and sure enough, people are flying by in the exit lane to the right of it only to cut back onto the freeway last second. *eyeroll* and then people who actually do want to exit have to slam on the brakes and wait, or cut around them on the shoulder presumably.

Needs more jersey barriers ;)
