One Method of Getting Red Light Cameras Removed

Simple...just boycott the town.

In yesterday's New York Times, this gem, courtesy of The Miami Herald:

"Wherever they're installed, speed and traffic-light enforcement cameras cause controversy. In the tiny village of Elmwood Place, Ohio, disgruntled recipients of camera-generated tickets fought back and took the matter to court. The cameras were installed late last year, because the village's fiscally strained police force said it couldn't handle enforcement duties with its whittled-down staff. But by the end of the first month of operation, 6,600 tickets had been issued. People stopped coming to town, even for church, and local entrepreneurs complained that the cameras were hurting business. A judge ordered the village to take down the cameras, and pending litigation, the cash-starved village may have to pay back all of the fines it issued."

Just for clarification, they were speed cameras, not red light cameras.
