Although it did use today's SC 319 routing, US 501's south end after extension into South Carolina has always been in Myrtle Beach and the 1940 Horry County and 1940 Topo map of Myrtle Beach show US 501 ending where it does now even though it came in along Broadway in the beginning (Broadway north of 7th is SC 501 ALT back then).

It replaced the US 117 routing from Conway to Myrtle Beach in late 1934 when US 117 was dropped in favor of US 17 south of Wilmington NC.

Here is the 1935 NC Official which shows US 501 doing this - http://dc.lib.unc.edu/cdm/singleitem/collection/ncmaps/id/747/rec/11

The 1935 SC Official also shows this.

US 378 is less definitive but I believe it has always ended at 3rd and Main.  The 1940 Horry County map shows SC 90 crossing US 701 to get to US 501 and on to where SC 90 headed off towards the ocean.

The Oct 1947 Conway inset is vague whether that was still true (but I believe it is).

Horry County maps into the 1970s still do not label whether 3rd east of US 701 is primary or secondary.

SC 905 was moved from 3rd to 4th in 1962 when the current Kingston Lake bridge was built.  US 378 has been posted on 3rd from 501 Business back to at least the early 70s (there was a non-reflective square there in the late 80s).

While we're at it, here is the 1951 Official showing US 15 south of Walterboro.  Old 17 to Jacksonboro is shown as SC 63 and SC 64 continues to head to Summerville.

Thanks - I'll go through the replies once I finish and probably just add a link to them for better-researched info.
pre-1945 Florida route log

I accept and respect your identity as long as it's not dumb shit like "identifying as a vaccinated attack helicopter".

Part 3:

601 Mount Airy
A 1970 topo shows that US 601 ended on Rockford at Main. A 1998 aerial shows that Main was already one-way, so the first photo on http://www.usends.com/00-09/601/601.html is probably on Pine at Renfro (http://www.vahighways.com/ncannex/route-log/us601.html says it wasn't cut back to the bypass until 2001-02). http://www.vahighways.com/ncannex/route-log/us52b.html has some interesting maps.

US 601's north end in Mt. Airy was initially Rockford and Main.

US 601's north end became split in Oct 1970 - https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/safety/Route%20Changes/1970_10_01.pdf - NB ending at Cherry/Renfro and SB beginning at Pine/Renfro

In March 1995 - https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/safety/Route%20Changes/1995_03_20.pdf - US 601 both ended and began at Pine/Renfro

In June 1999, US 601 north was truncated to US 52 Bypass.
