I recently acquired a General Traffic Equipment model P-6 pedestrian signal. Illuminated as "DONT WALK" and "WALK." It saw service in the city of New York, and it was manufactured in the 1990s.

The pedestrian signal has some minor damages, but I am not necessarily concerned, since mostly everything is still intact.

The G.T.E. P-6 controls the cross street along with the other pedestrian signal shown here in the picture.

The P-6 from G.T.E. was the new kid on the block in New York City at the time of its introduction in the early 1990s. It was commonly used at a newly constructed signalized intersection, while it replaced an older 16" pedestrian signal (typically the Winko-Matic VI 2L). Other times, the pedestrian signal was added as an upgrade at an existing signalized intersection, in which pedestrian signals were never in use prior to upgrade.
