WisDOT is looking into possibly moving up the planned six-lane upgrades to the US 10/WI 441 freeway in Winnebago County, WI (US 41 to where US 10 hops off of the freeway at Oneida St in Appleton) from starting in 2016 to starting in 2014, depending on funding.

This is a 'Big Shovel' project (estimated $390M).

Note, I will not be able to attend their planned PIM.

And here is the Biggest Shovel for it:

(Man that whole Northeast/ East-central part of the state is really going to have a cadillac bentley freeway system by 2019-20.  :coffee:)

Before this image, which was a very early concept, was posted a few days ago, the latest that I have seen has the EB US 10 to SB US 41 ramp being relocated to diverge from the ramp to northbound US 41 directly under the WB to SB flyover ramp, with that ramp having a much smoother curve and feeding into the US 41 mainline where the present-day southbound C/D ramp merges in.  I'll have to ask if the plans were changed back to that ramp's current course.

Those are very kinky curves on that current ramp, with a very short decision area with similarly short sight lines leading to that diverge and then quickly followed by the flyover ramp merge.

An update on this project, it has not yet been decided, but it does look good for the schedule on this one to be moved up.

Also, WisDOT has some updated and re-tweaked interchange drawings on their project website:

Enjoy!

Another bit of urgency on this one, although according to the WisDOT guy, it is still on for a 2016 start.  Pieces of concrete fell from the US 10 bridge over NB US(I)-41 in the Bridgeview Interchange (US(I)-41/US 10/WI 441) and damaged several cars on Tuesday (2013-09-17) afternoon.  That bridge was opened in 1975.

More noteworthy is a DDI at the Oneida St interchange.

Those are very new images, too, published after the earlier postings in this thread.  I also note that the big westbound US 10/WI 441 to southbound US(I)-41 two-lane flyover ramp in the Bridgeview Interchange will now diverge from the US 10 mainline from the LEFT instead of the right, as was the published plan up until this most recent image.  Yes, it does look like it will save some money in reduced amounts of bridging.

A left exit? No me gusta.  Even if there is a lot of WB -> SB traffic moving through there, it's creating a situation where traffic has to move across the entire carriageway when getting on at Racine St.  This is a mistake.  Not as bad as the southern 10/45 junction, but not the best move in my little old opinion.  Not worth whatever they're saving in the context of the whole project.
