Not really Westchester but any non-reflective button copy left around the GWB, Hamilton Bridge or 9A?
I only take pics of good looking signs. Long live non-reflective button copy!

The last time I was up there, in 2010, they had replaced a lot of the button-copy signs.  Passing under on the train more recently, it looks like they've replaced even more, so there may not be much left.

The last time I was down in Westchester (New Year's-ish 2013, and the last time I'll be down there indefinitely), they were sporadically doing sign rehab on the Cross County. Scour it and side streets, especially near Exit 8. Also, Central Ave and anywhere near Central Ave. The Saw Mill Pkwy and Saw Mill River Rd are also good corridors to hunt on, and the interchange between Nepperhan and Yonkers Ave in Yonkers is a good place to look. Also, Palmer Rd. and Tuckahoe Rd. near I-87. Look around Mount Vernon (Fleetwood) side streets for old NY 22s. I had the impression that they were starting up a big-time sign rehab.

This is all off the top of my head and as far as I know, they're busy replacing every one of them I can imagine.

There's a huge sign rehab coming up in R9 in the next year or two as well, so I hope everyone got the photos they want on the Binghamton tour.

Central Ave is starting to get some replaced.  Mainly the Tuckahoe Ave NB signage on NY100.

I'm hoping this is still there.

Was a few weeks ago that I last passed it, but it was in fact still there.

I was also up there at the beginning of August, and it was still there.  It was getting dark at that point, so I couldn't get any photos.  By the way, doesn't that sign look like it belongs in New Jersey?

That sign is very cool. I didn't realize that there were any of the old format exit panels left in New York.

Westchester's been an old sign sanctuary for years now. It'll be a shame to see them go. And no, Clearview isn't easier to read at all. They just make sure they make all the letters bigger on Clearview signs and compare them to smaller-sized Series E Modified, which shouldn't be used anymore anyway since button copy is considered obsolete.

(It boggles my mind how so many people have such a hard time understanding Series E(M) is modified for usage with button copy letting. Also, just to be clear, these old gems are being replaced with Clearview, or at the very least, NYSDOT felt the need to Casio all over the Bronx River Pkwy with them a couple years ago.)

As far as I'm aware, NYSDOT is not using Clearview anywhere. Westchester County DPW, however (who maitains the Bronx River Parkway) now uses it exclusively.
If you always take the same road, you will never see anything new.

As does the Thruway, somewhat exclusively, so you get a whole smorgasbord of typefaces in the county.

I thought the Thruway had recently decided that Clearview wasn't such a great idea after all and reverted back to FHWA lettering. New signs on the Erie portion are in FHWA Series E(m), not Clearview.

Also, I completely agree that engineers are crazy for using Series E(m) when designing non-button copy signs (which should be all the time now), they should be using the same letter spacing as Series E(m) but with Series E lettering. Much easier to read than Clearview, in my opinion.

Yeah, hence the "somewhat". Recently replaced signage on the Yonkers end is all Clearview, but there's plenty of non-Clearview signage to be found still.

That Saw Mill sign's probably from when they got rid of Hawthorne Circle, so I assume it's non-reflective. Looks it. If it is, it's early-gen.

Anybody see this scene from the 1983 movie "Without a Trace?"

From what I've seen on Google Street View, those button copy signs are still there.

anybody know if this is definitely non-reflective?  Saw it on the Taconic in the midst of new signs.

Took a photo of it back in June, around 6:30pm at night, so I probably had my lights on. No reflectivity.

(Sorry, massive backlog on photos; I'll try to some pics up soon.)
